Originally from Ireland, Grace believes jewelry should be as meaningful as the milestones it represents, something to wear every day and treasure for decades. After discovering Hiba Jaber, she created her first bespoke jewel: a Thin Duo Ring featuring the Arabic initials of her two sons, followed by a special personalized Open Bangle that marked another chapter of her journey.
In this interview, Grace shares how motherhood, family, and intentional living inspired her special stories, why personalized jewelry has become part of her everyday life, and what made her return to create a second bespoke piece with Hiba Jaber.
1. Tell us a little about yourself. Who is Grace in a few words?
I’m from Ireland, married with two small boys and I work in Human Resources. I am a person who values honesty, kindness and authenticity so I really try to bring intention to the choices I make both in life and the things I wear.
2. What does jewelry mean to you?
Choosing jewelry for me is as significant as getting a tattoo. Jewelry is an investment, and I want to wear mine everyday for decades to come. I will only choose pieces that carry meaning and memories for me, that are linked to my actual personality and values.
3. Your Thin Duo Ring was the first jewel you chose from Hiba Jaber, followed by your customized Open Bangle. What inspired you to begin this journey with these two jewels?
Over the past few years, I experienced several important milestones, giving birth to my youngest son, turning 40, and being promoted in my job. I wanted to mark that chapter of my life with a special piece of jewellery.
I had looked at rings from some well-known jewellery houses, but nothing really spoke to me, so I decided to wait until I found something that truly resonated. When I came across Hiba Jaber on Instagram, her stories immediately caught my attention.
I loved seeing how present she is in her studio, and how connected she seems to her team and her craft. That authenticity really aligned with my own personal values and made the Thin Duo Ring feel like the right first piece to begin with.
4. Both jewels hold a very personal meaning. Could you share the story behind them and what they represent in your life?
My thin and thick duo ring has the initials of my two sons M and L but in Arabic (Meem and Lam). My own birth stone (a peridot) is in the middle of the ring. My older son said, “Mama those letters are me and Luc and you are the green stone in the middle looking after both of us”.
I have had the ring for a couple of months now and I wear it every day, I have had so many compliments on it, the flow of the Arabic script is gorgeous and being in Europe people don’t recognise it immediately so it is a conversation starter. It is so stunning that I wanted to treat myself to a bangle as well.
I decided to put my own initials on the bangle and a diamond this time as I have my birthstone on the ring. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
5. How do these special jewels make you feel when you wear them? Are there certain moments or occasions when they feel specially meaningful?
The ring with my sons’ initials is incredibly special to me. I wear it every day, and every time I look at it, I feel deeply connected to them. It reminds me how lucky I am to be their mama, and how grateful I am that we are together, safe, and surrounded by love, not everyone in the world has that opportunity at the moment.
6. Looking back on your journey with Hiba Jaber, what has creating and wearing these meaningful jewels meant to you, and what would you say to someone thinking about creating a jewel that tells their own story?
The process has reminded me to be sustainable and intentional in the things that we consume and do. Creating a bespoke piece will be meaningful to me for the rest of my life because it remains true to my own story. I would encourage anyone choosing jewelry to pick something that genuinely reflects them as a person rather than following trends.
7. We appreciate your coming back and ordering a second special story, what made you choose us over again?
Two things. A) How beautiful and special my ring is. The design process felt so personal to me, so much thought went into every detail from choosing the script style, how the letters would fit together, the gold colours etc. B) Through Instagram, you can see how present Hiba is in her studio and how much she values the people around her. Seeing her share moments like birthdays with her team means something significant to me. I think this work environment is reflected in the attention and customer service I received whilst buying the ring. It was absolutely second to none!
