We had the pleasure to catch-up up with the creative director Zahra Layla. Her natural warmth and genuine appreciation for craftsmanship made her the perfect person to discuss life's beautiful contrasts.
ON PERSONAL STYLE
White gold or yellow gold?
"Both at the same time!" Zahra's eyes light up as she answers. Her response is as quick as it is characteristic of someone who understands that style isn't about limitations.
Dresses or jeans?
"Jean, all the time." She gestures to her outfit with a knowing smile. In a room full of evening and smart wear, Zahra's confidence in her choice speaks volumes about authentic personal style.
EARLY INFLUENCES
What's your earliest memory with jewelry?
Her face softens with nostalgia. "Growing up with my mom, she always had beautiful diamonds on and I definitely took after her, cause I am obsessed. If I could wear diamonds all the time I would – and actually, I do." It's a touching revelation that shows how our earliest influences shape our aesthetic sensibilities.
LIFE & RHYTHM
Morning person or night owl?
"Super early person," she shares, giving insight into the discipline behind her success.
What makes you excited?
"Food and my cats and life and diamonds!" The answer bursts forth with genuine enthusiasm, revealing a personality that finds joy in both life's simple pleasures and its sparkling moments.
FINDING BALANCE
Beach vacation or mountain retreat?
"I feel like I have two personalities," she muses, "so there are times that I would love a beach vacation and other times a mountain vacation. As long as I am in nature, I am happy." This adaptability seems key to her approach to life.
City or countryside?
"Oh countryside!" she exclaims. "I am a city girl but take me to the countryside any day." The response feels particularly poignant coming from someone so often associated with urban sophistication.
SIMPLE PLEASURES
Coffee or tea?
"Tea," she states simply, a choice that seems to reflect her appreciation for tradition.
Sweet or savory?
"Sweet all the time," she answers without hesitation, proving that some choices require no deliberation.
In a world often demanding we choose sides, Zahra represents a refreshing perspective: embrace contrast, find joy in both the extraordinary and the everyday, and always stay true to yourself, whether that means wearing jeans to a luxury event or choosing both white and yellow gold.
As she moves through the space, stopping occasionally to admire particularly stunning pieces, it's clear that her appreciation for beauty – whether in fine jewelry or life's simple moments – comes from a genuine place. It's this authenticity that makes her not just a notable presence at the event, but a voice worth listening to on style, life, and finding beauty in all its forms.
